Overview

Since The Goodies Café did not have an existing website, the goal was to create a functional and visually appealing site that allows customers to easily browse the menu and place orders online. The design needed to be clean, inviting, and user-friendly.

Challenge

Building the website required learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while simultaneously developing the project. Additionally, implementing an ordering feature added complexity, as it needed to be both intuitive for users and functional from a technical standpoint. Managing time effectively was crucial to balancing design, coding, and testing.

Results

I began with a competitive analysis to study how other cafés structure their websites, drawing inspiration from typography, layouts, and user experience patterns. Using this research, I created a mood board and developed wireframes in Figma to plan the design. The website was built using Phoenix Code, incorporating HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Despite the challenges of learning and coding simultaneously, this project significantly improved my technical skills, problem solving abilities, and time management. The final product successfully met the project’s objectives, delivering a functional and aesthetically pleasing café website.

Seeing the website go from a simple wireframe to a fully working site was incredibly rewarding, it made the learning process feel even more worthwhile.
